After years out of the spotlight, Demi Lovato has decided to recreate her music beyond her original sound. You might know her from Disney Channel, as she was in “Camp Rock” and “The Princess Protection Program” or from her hit songs such as “Heart Attack,” “Sorry Not Sorry,” and “Cool For The Summer.” These three hit songs have been remade and put into a different genre that Lovato seems to like better.
Lovato commented to Rolling Stone that what sparked her interest to remake her old music, was the struggle for her and her band to fit them into the setlist on her recent pop-punk tour. Since the tour’s music had a different genre than her previous songs, Lovato and her band decided to alter the sound of her old songs and make them fit into the new one.
“The fans loved it,” Lovato and the band said to Rolling Stone. “When I got home from tour, I was like, why don’t I just record those versions and release them?’”
However, there seems to be a deeper meaning behind why she wanted to start up with pop-punk in the first place.
According to Rolling Stone’s article, Lovato’s original intention when she first started making music was to create songs with the rock sound. This quickly came to an end because she “wanted songs that would play on the radio.” This new motivation caused her to stray away from the rock sound that she’d already been working on. This drastic change, however, caused her to lose herself throughout the years.
“When I started my first two albums, I feel like my instincts were on track,” Lovato says on the Zane Lowe Interview Series – podcast. “I was doing the music that I loved listening to.”
Lovato has now decided to remake some of her most iconic pop hits and turn them into something more her style. She recently announced her 9th studio album titled “REVAMPED.” This album will include 10 songs and will be released Sept. 15.
It’s been years since Demi Lovato has created anything besides a pop album, but the important thing is she finally has herself back. Tune in to her upcoming album, “REVAMPED.”
