Taylor Swift has recently finished her third album on her re-recording project: “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version).” The re-recording includes 22 tracks and 6 vault tracks, which many “Swifties” were enchanted to hear. “
The reason Swift is currently re-recording her first six albums is because of the betrayal of her previous record label, Big Machine Records, which she left in 2018. According to the news site Vox, the label sold albums “Taylor Swift,” “Fearless,” “Speak Now,” “Red,” “1989,” and “Reputation” to mega manager Scooter Braun. This sale gave Braun rights to those recordings, making him receive all the rights and money to the music that was once Swift’s.
According to Vox, Swift now works with Republic Records and therefore will now own copyright to her old albums by re-recording them. So far, the process has been an enormous success, and she has already reached the halfway mark of the albums she needs to re-record. “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” is now the third album she’s completed on this journey since she began in 2021.
Many fans love the new vault tracks. Vault tracks are never before released tracks Swift had written during the time of the original album. Swift has included Vault tracks on every re-recorded album so far, making fans excited for new music and the glory of the old tracks. The vault tracks on “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” feature artists such as Fall Out Boy and Hayley Williams from the band Paramore.
When Swift announced “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” on Instagram, she exclaimed that she “loves the album because it tells a tale of growing up, flailing, flying and crashing… and living to speak about it.”
Swift sounds mesmerizing in her re-recordings of 2010 country hits such as “Mean,” “Enchanted,” and “Mine.” The change in Swift’s vocals over the years is unfluctuating, and she also sounds more mature now than in the original recordings.
My favorite song on the album used to be “Back to December,” although Swift changed that by releasing a vault track titled “Timeless.”
When I first listened to the song “Timeless,” I couldn’t believe how amazing and sweet it was. The track does a beautiful job of describing what it feels like to genuinely be in love and believe that the love you found will last forever. It’s definitely my new favorite song on the album because of how truly stunning it sounds and how lovely the premise and storytelling are.
The entire album has always been my favorite. However, now it’s more than a favorite and has truly turned into a beautiful treasure to me.
I suggest that listeners appreciate the fantastic and memorable sounds on “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” as much as I did.
