All public libraries have different events and plans for everyone from little kids to senior citizens, but the Las Vegas Library District has so many opportunities specifically for teens that are not being taken advantage of. At the library, things like tutoring, free snacks, computer time, games, and more occur every day, and yet only a few teens truly show up and use these wonderful resources.
Roberto Ramirez, a freshman at SHS, says he would definitely recommend the library to others.
“The library is a good place to hang out with friends,” Ramirez said.
So many teens are seen hanging around campus because they have nowhere to go after school. The library would solve all their problems because they can come whenever they want, with friends, and have something fun and productive to do.
“They provide food, computers, books, music, etc.” Ramirez says.
The chance to go somewhere inclusive and indulge in anything a teenager would want is something that shouldn’t be passed up as much as it is. Even if you just want to chill and relax, there is a spot made just for teens at Enterprise Library called the “Teen Zone” where anyone from 12-18 can go and hang out.
“Sometimes I participate in activities in the teen zone, and sometimes I go to the activities they have,” Ramirez said.
Not only is there a teen zone, but there’s a whole area for all kids under 18 that has youth books, computers, snacks, activities, etc. They also have games for different consoles and many shelves filled with DVDs. You can also volunteer once a week at any library for volunteer hours or if you just want to help out.
Anyone who wants to have somewhere to relax, meet new people, volunteer, participate in fun activities, or watch a movie, then a local Las Vegas library could be the answer.
