Ending the last day of the first week, seniors crowded to the football field to celebrate the annual tradition of Senior Sunrise.

At dawn on Aug. 13, Silverado’s seniors reunited at the football field for the first time to enjoy the traditional Senior Sunrise. Senior Sunrise is a senior-exclusive event that our school hosts to do something exciting for the new incoming seniors. Food and drinks are provided along with cool backdrops for picture-taking while music plays and students enjoy the beautiful sunrise.

After over a year of online school, the seniors got the chance to hang out with their friends and celebrate the start of their last year in high school. Students were seated on the bleachers of the football just casually catching up with friends and basking in the rising sun.

Seniors Jenna DeSellems and Lily Martin had a fun and exciting time at sunrise. Martin was happy that a lot of people showed up, and DeSellems’s favorite part of the whole thing was the delicious donuts.

“Senior sunrise was really fun and a good memory for my senior year,” DeSellems said.

The seniors then swarmed the football field to take a group photo as well as individual sunrise photos. Laughs, smiles, and the clicks of cameras could be found from every direction as the infancy of the day created a refreshing atmosphere that boosted the moods of the seniors.

Spectacular senior crowns were all shown off, some flashy, some minimal.

Senior Giselle Lopez decorated her crown with Travis Scott’s “ASTROWORLD” album design. The crown had a black background with white galaxy speakers along spelling the letters of S-E-N-I-O-R with the “ASTROWORLD” font.

“It took a while, but it came together really well,” Lopez said. “I got lots of compliments from it, and I was just super proud of it.”

Lopez is excited for her senior year as she looks forward to many other senior activities such as prom and all other special senior festivities.
