Skyhawk Women’s Varsity Soccer beat Basic International Academy 6-1 at home on Aug. 28.
In the first half, freshman striker Hannah Gutierrez scored the first goal. Following this goal, junior striker Savannah Foschetti scored another goal, leaving the score 2-0 at halftime.
“Going into the second half, I knew I needed to step up my game because I knew the other team would work even harder to catch up with our lead,” Foschetti said.
In the second half, Basic scored once, but that was the only time the Wolves got one past the determined Skyhawks. Foschetti scored back to back in the second half, leaving her with three goals. Senior Reese Gordon scored the fifth goal, and then Foschetti ended the game with her fourth goal.
“I felt so happy and appreciative of my team because I couldn’t have scored as much without them by my side,” Foschetti said. “This game reminded me why I love this sport so much.”
Women’s Varsity Soccer has a current record of 3-1 as of Sept. 6.
