On Feb. 2, Mason Snow won the class 5A individual boys’ bowling title. He won with a large gap of 514-431 against Centennial’s Tyler Castronova.
This big win could be attributed to his long-time dedication to the sport.
“I started bowling in 2014 when I was looking for a much safer alternative to a much more dangerous sport I was doing,” says Snow, referring to his past BMX racing.
Considering it is Snow’s senior year, he has done very well for himself in the bowling realm. He may have fallen behind in the beginning of his high school career, but that is not the case this year.
“My year has felt a bit different due to the increased amount of success I’ve had this time around,” Snow says.
It seems that even with all his success on the school team this year, he actually receives awards out of school for the most part.
“Typically, my awards I win are not from high school, usually plaques and scholarship money,” Snow says.
Snow feels confident about the future of SHS’s bowling team after he graduates. He found great enjoyment in his time bowling and knows someone great will come along and take over for him.
“I’m positive that another person like myself will come to the team like I had and carry our team to state again,” he said.
He believes that people should definitely join the bowling team. He had a great time and thinks that the sport could use more attention.
“I would recommend joining the team to assist in growing the underappreciated sport of bowling,” Snow says. “It’s very rewarding and fun, despite some people’s presumptions on competitive bowling.”
Snow does not plan to slow down. He has been playing for a long time and wants to continue growing in the competitive world of bowling.
