Silverado’s  FCCLA team of nine culinary students traveled to Reno, March 10-13 just before the  coronavirus outbreak required school closures. The students competed for knife skills, cupcake decoration and a culinary three-course menu food competition.  Culinary students worked hard, and they received 4 silver medals and 4 bronze.

“It was a tough and timed competition,” said adviser Jayasree Ravi. “For first-timers, they did a great job.”

Students who participated include Leighonna Post (10), Sicilia Atalia Franklin (10), Mary Samita (10), Justine Rude (10), Jacquelin Jones (11), Aaliyah Savala (11), Gavin Aquino (9) and Ricardo Reyes (11).

The FCCLA is a national student leadership organization through family and consumer science education called Family Career and Community Leaders of America.
