Every school year, the Silverado Dance program has two recitals during the year. Each show contains two show times, 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Each show that takes place has a different theme.
This spring, the theme was “Come Fly with Me,” and it began with two dancers dressed as flight attendants. As the show continued, each dance was different as if the dancers were traveling the world to different countries.
The director of all these shows and dance performances is the dance teacher, Tiara Koch.
Koch thought it would be fun to explore different cultures and show a variety of dance styles.
Some of the places that the dancers “traveled” to in the show were Las Vegas, Tahiti, Vienna, Cuba, France, India, Egypt, Tokyo, Africa, Mexico, Rome, New Orleans, Hawaii, California, New York, and Outer Space was even included. A few of the songs that were playing were “Waka Waka,” “Come Fly With Me,” and many more songs.
There were challenges during the whole way of preparing for the show and for being at the show. Attendance and the things everybody needed to perform like their costumes, makeup, and accessories were the main two challenges. Otherwise, the show was quite successful.
“It went wonderful, really well,” Koch said.
Besides the challenges that occurred, Koch was proud of how it turned out.
“I was proud of every dancer for showing up and being able to have the courage to go up on stage,” Koch said.
Koch has also given us next year’s show theme, “A Night at the Movies.”
